Crawley tops Parts Plus USCS National and Mid South points
March 9, 2009 - Atlanta, GA - 2008 Parts Plus Mid South Thunder Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas leads the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series National Point standings after a feature win in the series season-opener at Central Mississippi Speedway on Saturday night. The race which awarded Parts Plus Outlaw Thunder Tour National Championship points as well Parts Plus Mid South Thunder regional series points places Crawley at the top of the standings in both series sas of March 7th with 150 points. Defending National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee trails Crawley by two points with 148 points after finishing in second place on Saturday night.
Rookie of the Year candidate, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee made an impressive 2009 debut and ranks in third place in the point standings with 146 points. The 2007 Parts Plus USCS Rookie of the Year, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arknsas charged from 12th starting position to 4th place in Saturday’s main event and thus stands in fourth place in the standings with 144 points. Raymond Stull who collected a win in the Bar’s Leaks Third Heat on Saturday night and a top five finish in the main event rounds out the top five in the series standings with 142 points.
Veteran sprint car ace, Jeff Swindell from Bartlett, Tennessee ranks sixth in the standings with 140 points followed by Bryce Vowan from Forrest City, Arkansas who ranks seventh with 138 points. Danny Wood from Norman, Oklahoma ranks eighth in the standings with 136 points followed by Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. from Olive Branch, Mississippi in ninth place with 134 points. The 2008 I-30 Speedway track champion, Justin Sturch from Benton, Arkansas rounds out the top ten in the early season point standings.
